Strawberry
A misleading name: botanically speaking, the strawberry is not a berry, but belongs to the aggregate fruit family. The reason is that the actual fruits are the small "seeds" on the surface. The origin of the name "strawberry" is a matter of debate.
Strawberries have played a role in the human diet since the Stone Age. Strawberries with big fruits like we know them today came into being over two hundred years ago from random hybrids of various American wild species. Since then, it has been an extremely popular fruit because of its sweet taste.
