The Indians called pineapple "nana meant" – the exquisite fruit.
Papayas grow in the tropics – that much is clear. What is unclear is what they grow on. Although the plants are the height of trees, they have no branches and are not woody. Some call them a "tree-like herb". The pineapple, on its 35 cm high bush, can only wonder about it!
Incidentally, the South American Indians called the papaya tree the “tree of health" and the papaya fruit the "fruit of longevity".
